Digital Immersion

Today, room 10 and I had Digital Immersion session with Garry. We learnt how to Program a robot to move from on place to another, We learnt how to debug problems and we even learnt a new language called Binary. My group had a lot of fun coding robots because it was very challenging towards the beginning.

Clarifying: Write about a challenging “new” word. Is there a part that is confusing? How did you
clarify the confusion? I do not know what….means. I am confused about……
Becon: A fire or light set up as a warning signal


Questioning: Write one ‘right there’ question. Who, what, when,why. Write one ‘think and search’
question. Compare/contrast, cause/effect, sequence.
What types of skills does an caver need? Some caves are vertical, and this means a lot of rope work. Other caves are small, which means having to squeeze through tight spaces
 
Summarising: Write down the ‘main idea’ and at least 3 details from the passage.
The main idea is How do you stay safe while caving.
The details are:
Each person must have three good sources of light.
Always go caving with at least two other people.
Most importantly, always tell someone where you’re going and when you’ll be back.

Glow in the dark with Mrs Tofa

Today we learnt how things glow in the dark by using a highlighter, water and a DIY blacklight.

Experiment: Glow in the dark highlighter.

Materials: Highlighter ½ cup of water in a clear cup Purple & blue cellophane Scissors Torch Tape Blue and purple sharpie

Method: Dissolve highlighter ink in ½ cup of water and leave to absorb.Next you cover the torch with purple cellophane then blue.Then you cover the torch with tape and colour with blue sharpie, tape again then blue again, tape then colour using purple. Lastly, go to dark room and shine the light on the cup of coloured water

I think I will learn how he started exploring and how he got inspired to explore caves because i’m
curious about how he liked caving so much that he started a young age.

Stalactite: A tapering structure hanging like an icicle from the roof of a cave
Chambers: A large room used for a public event.

How did he get inspired to explore caves? He got inspired by reading lots adventure stories and
a documentary that he watched

1.He read a lot of adventure stories and books about mountaineering.
2.He saw a documentary about the Nettlebed cave. That's when he found out he wanted to do caving.
3.He spent hours reading the maps of the caves.
