Our solar system

WALT: Write an information report on the solar system.

Success Criteria: My writing will have all the structural
and language features of an information report.

Our Solar System

The Solar System is a collection of the eight planets and their moons that
orbit around the Sun. The eight Planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars,
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. The Solar System was formed
4.568 billion years ago from the gravitational collapse of an area within a
large molecular cloud.

Mercury is the second hottest planet and it is the closest planet to the sun.
Mercury's temperatures can go between -279 Fahrenheit and the night side
of Mercury can get cold as 290 Fahrenheit. The length of one day on Mercury
is 58d 15h 30m and it is also 57.91 million km away from the sun.

Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system and it is the second planet
closest to the sun. Venus’s temperature is 864 degrees Fahrenheit but it is
still not enough to melt lead .The length of one day on Venus is 116d 18h
and it is also 108.2 million km away from the sun.

Earth is the third planet from the Sun and the only object in the Universe known
to life and the Earth formed over 4.5 billion years ago. The heat of the Earth's
core can go up to 10,800 F. That's as hot as the surface of the sun. The length
of one day on Earth is 24 hours and it is also 149.6 million km away from the
sun.

Mars is the fourth planet from the sun and it has 2 moons. Mars's
temperature can go as low as 68 °F and it is much colder that earth. The
length of one day on Mars is 1d 0h 37m and it is also the 227.9 million km
away from the sun

Jupiter is the Fifth planet in our solar system and it is the biggest  and the
oldest planet in our solar system. Jupiter is a is a gas giant and a failed star.
The length of one day on Jupiter is 0d 9h 56m and it is also 778.5 million km
away from the sun. Fun Fact: Jupiter has 51 moons

Saturn is the sixth planet  in our solar system and it is the second biggest
planet in our solar system. Saturn has rings around it made out of dust, rocks
and icy chucks. The length of one day on Saturn is 10h 42m and it is also
1.433 billion km away from the sun. Fun Fact: Spacecraft has landed on one
of Saturn's moon, named Titan.

Uranus is the seventh planet in our solar system and it is the coldest planet.
Uranus has Rings just like Saturn's but Uranus’s rings are made out of dust.
The length of one day on Uranus is 17h 14m and it is also

Neptune is the eighth planet in our solar system and it is the last planet
from the sun. Neptune has some rings that are very fin and very dark.
The rings are made out of little rocks and dust. The length of one day
on Neptune is 16h 6m and it is 4.495 billion km.
